The behaviours we use in attempts to cope with difficult thoughts and emotions can often be unhelpful. Some of these include:
Substance misuse, eating too much or not enough, withdrawing from friends and family, no longer participating in activites we used to enjoy, excessive use of the internet or TV.
Life sometimes presents us with challenges. We experience relationship breakups, work stress, job loss, disappointments.
We see the ones we love suffer, whether through illness or injury. We become our own worst critic. We fail, we get stuck. We feel helpless, we feel alone.
Please know, you do not have to struggle alone. Overcome the things that hold you back and create the life you want.
The only constant in life is change.
Under the Governments Better Access to Mental Health Scheme, your GP is able to write you a Mental Health Care Plan.
This makes you eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
It is important that you book an appointment with your GP to begin this process. Some GP practices require a double appointment to be booked when a mental health plan is to be considered.
This allows them time to have a discussion with you and complete the relevant paperwork.
However, please check with your medical practice, as it may differ between sites.
Some people choose not to get a mental health care plan for a variety of reasons and self refer instead.
Private clients finance their own treatment or may be eligible to receive rebates through their private Health funds.
Some private health insurers offer rebates for psychological services.
However, please check your eligibility with your health provider prior to attending your session.
Please contact reception if you would like to discuss further, or have any questions.
